Keep Orders Moving Out the Door in Outbound Freight
We’re recruiting an Outbound Freight Associate for an established Traverse City fulfillment company that stores and ships products for online sellers. You’ll be part of the Outbound Freight department, the final stop before orders go out, where accuracy and pace both matter and your work helps get customers’ orders on the right truck.
You’ll work from orders and pick sheets, pull product using a fork truck, pack and label shipments, and make sure every package is sorted for the correct carrier. If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable working on your feet, and take pride in getting things right with minimal supervision, this is a good fit. Experience with warehouse or fulfillment software is a plus.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Read the SKU, quantity, and location from pick sheets and orders
- Go to the correct warehouse location, pull the required product and quantity, and bring it back to the sorting area, driving a fork truck as needed
- Select the correct box size and pack the product
- Verify the number of boxes and scan the label on each package to produce a shipping label
- Process special shipping requests, such as third-party bills, correctly
- Place packages on the correct pallet or in the correct bin for the right shipping carrier
- Work at a high level with or without direct supervision
- Follow all safety policies and company policies, and encourage coworkers to do the same
- Take on additional duties as needed

- Ability to walk, stand, push, twist, and bend for the length of your shift (generally 10 hours)
- Ability to frequently lift customer merchandise from 0 to 50 pounds
- Order fulfillment experience
- Experience with warehouse management software or end-of-line software

Real Talk
This is a typical warehouse environment: expect noise, dust, and changes in temperature and lighting, with forklifts in use throughout the warehouse. You’ll be on your feet, walking, pushing, twisting, and bending for most of an 10-hour shift, and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds. Volume can rise and fall, so overtime and the occasional weekend may be needed. Accuracy matters at every step, because one wrong label or pallet can mean a late or incorrect shipment. If you like steady, detail-focused work and being trusted to run on your own, you’ll do well here.
