Start a Career in Insurance — No License Required to Begin
We're recruiting a Client Service Assistant for a well-established, family-owned independent insurance agency with multiple offices across Northern Michigan. This agency isn't tied to any single insurance company — they represent a wide range of carriers, which means their team gets to focus on finding the right fit for every client rather than pushing one product line. It's a stable, respected local employer with real room to grow.
This is a true entry-level opportunity — no insurance license or prior industry experience required. You'll start in a support role learning the day-to-day of the business, and the agency will help support you in pursuing your Michigan insurance license as you build your career. There's a clear next step already mapped out: strong performers on this team can grow into a licensed Client Service Specialist role, with a meaningful pay increase as you take on more responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing
- Answering inbound calls and routing requests to the right team member
- Processing client payments
- Issuing ID cards and proof of insurance for existing policies
- Handling basic data entry for mortgagee and lienholder change requests
- Taking down the facts on basic glass and tow claims and passing them along appropriately
- Gathering basic client information (contact details, vehicle/property facts) for the team
- Preparing and distributing policy documents
- Supporting data entry and documentation in the agency's management system
- Providing general administrative support to the broader client service team
- Working toward your Michigan insurance license, with the agency's support
What We're Looking For
Required:- Strong phone and customer service skills
- Comfortable with data entry and basic computer programs
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Reliable and professional demeanor
Helpful but not required:
- Prior office, administrative, or customer service experience
- Interest in pursuing an insurance license and building a long-term career in the industry
No insurance license or industry background is required to apply — this role is designed as the entry point into the field.
Benefits May Include
During your initial period with Ambient Recruiting, you'll be supported by our team while you build experience with this employer. Once you transition to their team directly, benefit eligibility and details will be reviewed as part of that process — we'll share specifics as they're confirmed.
Why You'll Love This Opportunity
- Clear career ladder: this role is the entry point to a licensed Client Service Specialist role with a real pay increase
- Agency-supported path to earning your Michigan insurance license
- Work for a stable, well-established, family-run local employer
- Variety of day-to-day tasks — phones, data entry, client support, claims intake
- A true 90-day path to a direct, permanent position with the employer
Real Talk
This is a phone- and computer-heavy role — you'll be on calls, processing paperwork, and entering data for a good part of your day. It's an unlicensed support role to start, so you won't be quoting policies or advising clients on coverage yet — that comes as you progress and get licensed. If you're looking for a stepping-stone into a long-term insurance career with a real growth path, this is built for that. If you want to be doing licensed client-facing work on day one, this is more of a foundation-building role first.
